We are a small group of ordinary people that all possess one charactistic: the LOVE of LIVE THEATER.
We have to, since the only compensation most of us receive is the applause of our great audiences. Most of us consider this salary enough!
Our 27 Year History
The Gulfport Community Players, Inc. is a chartered not-for-profit theater group created back in 1980 under the able guidance of our late founder, Catherine A. Hickman. The other founders included Mary Atkinson, Ruth Barbey, Laurel Kipycienski, Ed Maloney, Carol Polk, Dean Dobbs, and Judy Ryerson.
Where We Are
Up until the last day of January of 2000, we performed our all of our productions at the
City of Gulfport's Recreation Center.
Starting on January 18th, 2001, most of our performances are now at the City of Gulport's new
Catherine A. Hickman Theater. This theater is located at 5501- 27th Avenue South in Gulfport.
What We Offer
We offer live theater, featuring a variety of plays that we deem our community will enjoy, for a very reasonable admission charge of just $15 per ticket. By the many sold-out performances we have enjoyed in the past, we think our audiences have, for the most part, agreed with our choices and consider our ticket price a rare bargain for live theater.
The Gulfport Community Players realize that many communities have theater groups of course, but we have managed to add a little extra to your theater-going experience in our little town of Gulfport, Florida.
Lighted parking for your car is FREE
at the Catherine A. Hickman Theater of Gulfport.
The theater is attached to the northern side of the
Gulfport Senior Center at 5501 - 27th Ave. South.
It is located just north of the Gulfport Arts District.
We provide FREE programs for all of our productions at the door. The few ads in them help us pay for the program's production costs.
We do hope our audiences will continue to show their support for us by continuing to patronize our advertisers.
